Yonkers police discovered the two women around 4:30 p.m, on Monday, Nov. 1, after receiving a request for a welfare check from a friend who had not heard from the daughter since Friday, Oct. 29.

Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller said during a press conference that when officers from the 2nd Precinct arrived no one answered the door and officers found a broken window in the back of the home.

When officers entered the residence they found the two women stabbed to death, he said.

"The right description of the scene is horrific. Horrific," Mueller said. "And our hearts go out to the families."

The two women are not being identified until the next of kin is notified, although police did say one worked for the Yonkers Public Schools.

Mueller said the victims owned the home and police had only responded to the address once years ago for another welfare check.

He added that there were "a lot of items" inside the home, making it difficult to process the crime scene.

Muller described it as "not quite hoarding," but said that the sheer amount of items was a bit overwhelming.

Police added that although they were early in the investigation, they were looking into several leads.
